Idaho Centennial Trail # 22

The next morning i knew i needed to start out early to rescue Brian & Johnny so at 7;30 am I left on my dirt bike to go get them, by 7:50 am I was where I left them. I was in shock to find they had left already.

Where did they go was all I could think, so I went to the trail head an started watching their tracks they followed a wrong road for a long ways when they finally turned around, DCFC0152 i seen their motorcycle track lead another way, so i followed it and it took me about 15 miles and right back to the truck which is where I found them warming up, it was a good feeling to know that this section of the trail was over and everyone was safe.

DCFC0162 We loaded up and went home, the next section of this trail is supposed to be even harder, so I will take someone that is a bad ass bike rider to go with me... peace and big smiles... Bill

Idaho Centennial Trail # 20

Dcfc0100 (this is the only pic I have of where they slept)

I knew right then that at some point someone was going to sleep in the woods tonight, because I knew he couldn’t make it out on his bike now, he did try for about a mile but it was just to hard and painful for him.

Kevin decide he would give him a ride out so we stashed his bike in the bushes and went for  a mile and it was just to hard for Kevin to pack Johnny, so I decided I would do it, I told Johnny to get on and stay center of my back and lift his feet when I yelled feet so he wouldn’t get hit feet hit on the stumps or rocks.

By this time we were down to ½ hour of day light and so I rode as hard a I possibly could without hurting him to bad ,he probably thought I was crazy the way I was riding, But I knew it was my last chance of getting him out, With only 10 minutes of daylight left I stopped everybody and I said to Brian, that him and his brother Johnny was going to have to sleep in the woods until morning, at first Brian was not ok with this, but after a few minutes he decided that it was the best thing for me to follow Kevin out, because Kevin had to be back at camp because of  his dog Jack, as well as Kevin had the only bike with a headlight and I was the only one who knew the trail enough to get back to camp,

Idaho Centennial Trail # 19

Dcfc0134 About five miles into the trail, Johnny and his bike went off a side hill and his bike flipped down the hill about 25ft, it broke the radiator off and snapped the brake cable. After trying 10 minutes to get it back on the trail I remembered I had a rope in my backpack, I tied it to the axle and stood up on the trail and pulled the rope while the other three guys pushed. This is the trail where he went off.Dcfc0137

4x4 off road to Beaver Lodge / Atlanta Idaho

My wife Rori and I decided to take a adventure to the Beaver Lodge in the snow, so002_2_17  we decided we would 4x4 up to Atlanta Idaho and spend our New Year Eve there. Atlanta is a little mining town that dates back to 1890, its 68 miles of off-road terrain, starting with washboard to ice and snow, the road follows the rivers edge. One of the first things we came across is the Arrow Rock Dam which was originally constructed in 1911-1915, Later it was modified in1935-1937. This is a cool little piece of history.

Fastest Sandrail Ever

Last SuP1210068nday 1-20-07 I went for a drive out at the Gem county motorcycle park,  to mess around with my scout 4x4 a little, this park is in Emmett Idaho. I would have never guessed what would happen to me this day. I drove into the parking lot and saw one of the coolest looking 4wheelers  I had ever seen. It had a big v8 motor hanging out of the back of it. We drove over by where it was parked to grab a picture of it.  My friend Don and my son Cody_1_1 Cody was with me. Dcfc0015_4 When Don asks if he could take a P1210069picture the guy said he would love to take us for a ride. I thought wow that would be cool for my son. Just then another Big Sand rail Buggy P1210063 looking thing drove up, it was the wildest thing I ever seen, it was a 4 seated sand rail with big tires and a huge v8 motor attached to the back of it for power. It turned Dcfc0022_1out to have a 400 horse power Dcfc0053corvette engine.

Idaho Centennial Trail 15

008_8_00 Well I came to the trees they where talking about and I jumped my bike over the first one because it had trees stacked on the other side so I would be able to ride right back over if I need to. 009_9_00 After that I went another half a mile and there were two or three big trees blocking the trail and I could not find a way around, I tried to get around but end up falling over and working real hard getting my motorcycle back upright.

Idaho Centennial Trail 14

005_5_00_2 When I started going south again, the trail started to drop in elevation very rapidly and the trail was getting dense with trees in spots, It was not real fast going even on a dirt bike, which was ok since how I was by myself; I had to be a little more cautious because if I went off the trail Dcfc0044_2 I would be in big trouble with no one to help me. I came across a forest road and I wondered where it went. At eight miles down the trail I stopped to look at the Benchmark map, gps and to get a drink, some more pictures; and a couple of bikers came up the 013_13 Idaho Centennial Trail.  .....this is not a 4x4 road....smiles

Idaho Centennial Trail 13

002_2_1 I did come to few real challenging spots on the trail in the next two miles until I 012_12_1arrived at the top of the hill, switchbacks, rocks, cliffs were pretty normal all the way to the top. I knew that Johnny would have never made it. I was so happy that I went on. This had been one of the best times of my life.003_3_2  It was so peaceful and beautiful. I stopped several times to take pictures and just enjoy the beauty. 004_4_00
